A soft wash of color or a bold statement color, Permanent Lip Blush is customizable.

Lip Blush requires 2 appointments, 6 weeks apart, minimum.

Lip Blush Neutralization (for deeper melanin lips with blue or purple undertones) often requires 3-4 appointments, 8-10 weeks apart, in the first year. It will undergo several color changes and will appear darker, then gradually lighten as it heals. You must trust the healing process and agree to a minimum of 3 appointments, with an optional 4th if needed. Each appointment has a fee associated with it.

There are some caveats before you decide to set your appointment date, so please read below. These are not polite suggestions.

To schedule a Lip Blush appointment with Haiku Ink, please consider setting up a video consultation appointment. These are free, last 10-15 minutes, and will help us determine the desired outcome possible for your features.

Lip Blush is available for clients who provide proof of full COVID-19 Vaccination record.

Before You Schedule:

Boosters or any other vaccinations (Flu etc.) must also be 2 weeks minimum before your first appointment. You should not get your booster or ANY vaccinations between the first and second appointments.

  1. Exfoliate nightly for 1 week minimum. I use a damp toothbrush.

  2. Before your appointment for 1 week minimum : Hydrate 5 times per day with a slippery, emollient lip balm - Vaseline, Aquaphor etc. Nothing hard or waxy like Carmex or Chapstick.

  3. If you have a history of cold sores (even if it was +10 years ago), this Lip Blush Tattoo process will cause one or more to pop up. You must be taking your anti-viral RX for at least 3 days before, the day of, and 3 days after each of your Lip Blush or Lip Neutralization appointment. This is not a polite suggestion. This is critical. I will not tattoo you if you have not taken precautions.

  4. If you have no history of Cold Sores, the virus can still pop up a sore because it may be laying dormant in your system. 50-80% of the human adult population has the Herpes Simplex Virus Type-1 and a lot of folks don’t know they have it. Lip Blush cannot GIVE you HSV-1 but it can cause enough stress on your system to cause the dormant virus to awaken. You can always discuss prophylactic anti-viral treatment with your health care provider if you so choose.

  5. Do not use strong waterproof liquid Matte lipsticks or lip stains until 6 weeks after your final appointment. Avoid using them for 2 weeks before any annual touchups as well.

  6. You must change your disposable mask 3 times a day minimum for the first 5-7 days. You should consider these masks as wound dressing and only use a fresh, new, disposable mask each time. Do not use a washable reusable mask until day 7, minimum. Have these available before your appointment.

  7. Skincare : This is key. If you are using anything with any anti-ageing claims then you must discontinue it.

This is a non-exhaustive list of ingredients you must discontinue for 6 weeks : Retinol, Vitamin A Palmitate, Retinal, Retinoic Acid, bakuchiol, Tretinoin, retinyl palmitate, retinaldehyde, isotretinoin, adapalene, tazarotene, alitretinoin, and bexarotene, alpha Hydroxy acids, AHA, glycolic acid and lactic acid, hydroxycaprylic acid, and hydroxycapric acid.

This is not a FULL List and cosmetic ingredients go by many name and change all the time.

These ingredients are often hidden in the ingredients list. These products are extremely effective when used anywhere on the face, and they physically change the skin and make it so that the skin will be more inflamed, more painful, bad healing, and poor color retention. You will end up paying for more sessions out of pocket.

Clues to look for are these words on the box and/or website : Lightening, Brightening, Tightening, Smoothing, Pore-Refining, Acne, Clarifying, Wrinkle, Night Cream.

6 Weeks Off minimum prior to your first appointment and you can resume 4 weeks after your last appointment.

  8. If you are a Cigarette Smoker or Vaper, then you are not a candidate for Lip Blush.

  9. Lip Fillers: 2 months minimum is needed after Lip Fillers to allow them to settle. You may get lip fillers 4 weeks after your second session. Do not get them between the first and second sessions.

  10. Lip Flip Botox/Dysport : 4 weeks minimum is needed after any neuromodulators are used for the “lip flip”.

  11. Agressive skin treatments like Chemical Peels, Microneedling, Laser Resurfacing, LED or IPL Light treatments, Facials with microdermabrasion, Hydrafacials etc - we may need up to 6 months to heal from these treatments. Please discuss them during your consultation. Same goes for scheduled surgery or dental work.

  12. If you have existing lip tattoos you will be considered a correction case, no matter how faded they are. Please see the Policies Page before scheduling a consultation.
